Western Timothy grass hay with high-fiber, low-protein and low-calcium content,
helps keep the gastrointestinal tract of rabbits and small herbivores functioning properly.
Western Timothy hay will help prevent obesity, maintain a healthy urinary system
and improve overall health. A high-fiber diet will also lower the incidence of soft stools, intestinal gas and bloating. Timothy
hay is the most widely recommended hay by veterinarians for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other herbivores. Its fresh
fragrance encourages consumption.

Orchard Grass is a green, fruity-smelling grass hay which many small animals
enjoy. To the untrained eye, it looks identical to timothy grass, but the seed heads have a different shape.
Orchard Grass is a perennial cool season grass with flat leaf blades. The leaves
vary in color from green to bluish-green depending on the maturity of the plant. The lower surface of the leaf is not shiny;
and leaf sheaths can be somewhat rougher to the touch than timothy.

Alfalfa is a high-fiber legume forage hay that is sometimes called the "Queen of Forages". It differs
from grass hays such as timothy, orchard grass and brome in the leaf, stem, and root structure. Alfalfa is legume hay and
the protein, calcium and energy content are higher than in grass hay. Because we take special care and bale at night, you
will find that Oxbow's Alfalfa Nibbles have a soft stem with the leaves attached.
Alfalfa Nibbles is an outstanding feed for young animals. It contains more crude
protein, digestible energy, and calcium levels than any other forage. In addition, it has the fiber content needed for normal
digestive functioning. Alfalfa provides the essential calcium necessary for growing bones. Alfalfa is also a source of important
minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sulfur, iron, zinc and selenium.

Oat Hay is companion forage that is similar in nutritional analysis to the western
timothy. Your animals will love the immature oat grain that is contained in the seed head and will benefit greatly from the
fiber in the leaf and stem. Oat Hay is a good source of fiber and also gives variety to your animal's
diet. This product also makes a good bedding alternative to wheat straw.
The stage of maturity at harvest determines the development of the seed head. If the hay is harvested immaturely, at the
early bloom stage, the actual oat kernel is not mature. The seed heads consist primarily of oat husks, which are rich in fiber.
It is at this early stage that Oxbow harvests its Oat Hay . The result is light green/tan hay with
flaky oat husks at the top. Although there is no mature oat kernel present, the hay smells like oats and guinea pigs and rabbits
love it.
